Warm up the Darkest Day with Imperial Stout 2nd Release
Here in Tassie, we only clock nine hours of daylight on the winter solstice and with the sun setting at 4:40pm, it’s the perfect excuse to warm up with an imperial stout. And it just so happens that we have something new for you. Following our win at the 2023 Independent Beer Awards with our first Barrel Aged Imperial Stout, we have collaborated with Waubs Harbour Whisky again to create a second release, launching online on the winter solstice, 21st June 2024 at 7pm.
Using the same imperial stout recipe containing no less than ten different malts (with a few added extras), we aged it in two barrels this time: the original Waubs Harbour stout cask and a Heaven Hill bourbon cask. After extensive taste testing (we’re lucky to make it to packaging…), we blended the two casks which resulted in a smooth, rich and decadent stout.
The Waubs Harbour stout cask has added the classic rich tawny port flavours of sultanas and raisins while the bourbon cask has added smooth vanilla and toffee. Combined with the dark chocolate notes from the stout and it’s almost like drinking rum and raisin chocolate ice cream.
A few lucky tasters have even suggested it might be better than the first release… We’re excited!!
Released in very limited supply on Friday 21st June at 7pm EST here on our website (and, a few select venues in Tasmania), this one will sell out.
